Episode 2: The ROOM OF VIRTUE
After a few hours of silence and shouting at those mirror-like walls,
“Let’s come to an end you *@#*%$#, how
did you know our clandestine method of recognition?” I said.
“Your friend just said us the way to
reach you” the voice from above.
“The things you see around aren’t real,
step away from illusions to reach me” the voice from above.
After this conversation, I had a hunch
that it isn’t actually a prison and just my mind. I thought that I am in my
dream and I JUST WOKE UP. When I woke up suddenly, I saw a lady dressed like an
angel standing near to me. It was like a moment in heaven and I thought that I
already tasted too much of it earlier.
“Hi lady, may I know your name?” I
asked her.
She raised her head and looked at me
straight into my eyes and said politely, “Better luck next time”
“Fine, I remember that someone
kidnapped me—” I said to her.
“You have consumed cocaine and was
experiencing weird hallucinations and irrelevant words from your mouth when our
commander spoke with you. Then you went to unconscious state for 2 days. Now
you are stabilised and your blood levels are free from that drug.
With a weird blink I replied, “Oh,
that’s a pretty worst-case scenario”
“Fine, how did you manage the needs of
my bladder?” I asked that lady with a weird smile.
“Do I look like a medic? If so, please correct
yourself. I am an agent” she replied.
“Actually, where am I?” I asked her.
“Bring commander, let him take a look
at this” she said to the guard.
Then after sometime, I saw a man maybe
5’ 7 feet, pale, bluish iris, long pointed nose with a body language of being
the alpha and sounded like American. He was dressed in vintage suit and a hat.
He just seemed to me like a detective of 1990s.
“I am Dante Jacob, the commander of
this facility. Comrades call me agent Simon” he said.
“What is the purpose of kidnapping me?”
I asked him.
“I think you weren’t kidnapped but
chosen” he replied affirmatively.
“Chosen for what, I think I have a
question for you— What kind of place is this?” I asked him.
“I.D.E.N.T.I.T.Y —” he replied and made
a pause. I had been wondering what this place could be but this acronym left be
blindfolded in the forests of WESTERN GHATS OF INDIA. Then this nut just
started his sermon.
“We have been searching for exceptional
candidates for making the world a better place—IN YOUR LANGUAGE ITS BASICALLY A
SECRET AGENCY” Dante Jacob replied.
“OK, why did you get me here?” I asked
him.
“It’s foretold; you were chosen to be
an agent as per the demands of your shadow” he replied.
“Do you mean my Fidus archates (best
friend in Latin)?” I asked him.
“Yes” he replied.
“Where is Austin Troy?” I asked.
“A neutralisation mission in the nearby
city” he replied.
“It
was a long time isn’t it” Dante Jacob asked me.
“yes, previously it was while we came
out of RAW (RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS WING- INDIA’S EXTERNAL INTELLIGENCE)” I
replied to Dante.
“Okay, are you willing to take my
offer?” Dante whispered into my ears.
“Affirmative” I replied him in his ears
with a short laugh and made a thumbs up sign.
“The rest of the details will be discussed
later Jonathan Ray. Now, proceed to the ROOM OF VIRTUE” he replied.
"What is that?", I asked him with curiosity.
"What is that?", I asked him with curiosity.
Dante Jacob called the person nearby
and said, “Take him to the Room”
“Yes, Commander” she replied.
“Follow her for more, I have a job to
be done J.R.” Dante said.
I was keenly looking at the physique of
that agent. After some distance on my way to the Room, she turned back and smiled.
I took it as a positive sign from her. She then turned back and said “I am
married…
Remember…your
games can’t be played with me” “Is it clear to you”
After hearing it from her, I had a
slight post adrenaline effect in my face and just said her “As usual, pretty girls
are way out of league, Agent. They are like boss fights in computer games”
“Don’t worry” I replied her with smile
which she would have figured out that it was fake.
She just chuckled and it was cute.
“Good luck” she replied with a smile.
Then we just went through a small door
with a scanner which drives me crazy.
“What type of scanner is it?” Jonathan
asked her.

Then she asked me to navigate the rest
of the way to the ROOM OF VIRTUE by following the red light.
“Good luck agent” she said.
I just smiled at her as an act of
recognition. Then I just followed the way to the so-called
ROOM OF VIRTUE.
There was a black seat and a voice
guided me to get seated up and press the button on the left side of the seat.
Then I saw the hologram of a man with
wrinkles on his face and greyish white hair and gave me a hypothesis that he
might be in the age of 50 - 60.
“Well I recognise you…” I made a short pause
and said

“Hello Agent, I know that you could
recognise me as Franklin D Roosevelt. Well this organisation was created by me
for many reasons… but it still remains as secret. After the world war 1, the
government leaders created the peace keeping organisation called THE LEAGUE OF
NATIONS to prevent further wars. It had its origin from the words of Woodrow Wilson’s (28th US president)
14 POINTS SPEECH. Woodrow
left to Paris to make the 14 points into the Treaty of Versailles for formation of League of nations. But even though the idea was from the 28th US
president, US didn’t become member of the league due to the opposition from Republican
Congressman Henry Cabot Lodge. His objection was mainly due to the
fact that US
would lose the power of autonomy in foreign matters. When Woodrow planned to
bring the decision of making of league to public, he had a sudden stroke and
passed away. And the Lodge along with Congress didn’t accept the treaty thus
USA didn’t participate in League of nations. Thus, without the US
participation, around 48 countries
joined the league by 1920. The major
reason behind this was the PARIS
PEACE CONFERENCE. The major cause for the fall of League of nations
were the failure of collective security
and being pacifist in many issues of
nations without having an armed force
for itself. It mainly depended on the great powers of Britain and France. The decision of the league in refusing to help
Persia during ATTACK OF RUSSIA ON
PORT OF PERSIA 1920, was the start of failure of the league.
“The
Danzig region was the place
for the League to talk on disputes between
Poland and Germany. But it was overthrown by the Nazi
Germany during World War 2. Then the murder of Italian general ENRICO TELLINI in borders of
Greece had stimulated the prime minister of Italy, BENITO MUSSOLINI to bombard the Greek island CORFU. Even when Greece requested league’s help, it
was a failure due to the refusal by Mussolini. The Geneva protocol to control chemical and biological weaponry
of 1920s and the world disarmament conference of
1930s was a failure as Adolf Hitler
broke away from it in 1933. Another
important incident which revealed the weakness of League of nations was the Abyssinian crisis between
Kingdom of Italy and Empire of Ethiopia. Italy
discredited the league’s collective security
and formed alliance with Nazi Germany and
eventually captured Ethiopia. The
instability due to the pressure by several other nations mainly the Nazi
Germany and their attack on Poland lead
to the world war 2. In world war 2 most members of league were not involved
except
France and Germany. The Pearl Harbor attack of 1941 by the Japan insisted the US to prove
themselves powerful. US joined WW2 in 1941 and shook the world by its atomic
attack on HIROSHIMA AND NAGASAKI.
It brought fear among the other nations about the power of US. I regret myself
for making that decision and I know it’s not forgivable…My Dad used to say ‘The fear and anger
make a wise man into a devil’. I planned the idea of United nations in 1943 in a small
yellow sheet of paper… (made a short laugh) …and he along with the FOUR POLICEMEN (UNITED KINGDOM, UNITED STATES, SOVEIT
UNION, CHINA). I feared that UNITED
NATIONS could end up like the league of nations. That fear drove me to
create a secret backup organisation I.D.E.N.T.I.T.Y.
for saving the world from another world war”

Suddenly the speech continued in a
lady’s voice.

“But UN survived as it was accepted by
193 countries. But time always changes, the wealthy country can turn into
crisis at any time. Terrorism had brought fear among people as well as the
leaders of the countries. FDR
created I.D.E.N.T.I.T.Y. for
saving this world from every potential threat to peace and being the member of
it is a prestige to your nation to which you belong. I give you a chance to
prove yourself AGENT.
Good Luck and make us proud” ,The voice from above said.
“That was quite a surprise...literally
Goosebumps feeling” I said to myself.
“The speech from the founders is over” “Enter
your name here and you will receive an agent code name from the archive” the
voice replied.
I just entered my
name in that screen.
“Thank you for
your cooperation Agent code name RECK, PROCEED TO THE NEXT ROOM” the voice said.
Then, I went to
the next room, where I found some memories of Franklin D Roosevelt and a bluish
green light directed me to go through that passage where there were reddish
orange lighted glass screens. And at the end there was a voice of lady asking me
to keep the finger on the centre of the table. I followed its command and
placed my finger over the table.
There was a
needle prick and “Ouch” I exclaimed.
“Now, your blood
has been registered in the database of I.D.E.N.T.I.T.Y. You may leave Agent RECK”
Voice of the lady from the database said.
When I came out
of the room and reached for the command room where all the operations of
identity used to take place.
I reached out for
commander Dante Jacob.
Dante Jacob made
an announcement,” Units of IDENTITY, welcome Agent RECK to I.D.E.N.T.I.T.Y.”
There was a
salute from the folks and I just saluted them back.
A sudden beeping
from the phone of commander. He just distanced himself from me and attended
that call. After that call, he talked with his assistant Agent ACE and they
made a strange eye contact towards me.
Then Agent ACE came near me and said, “Get ready Agent… RECK, it was a call from your friend.
Agent Pollux and his team captured the leader of the cult group named dark
triangle. They found the location of their hiding. Commander said about your
recruitment to him and Agent Pollux wants you to lead the team to end them”
I just had a
moment thinking about my first mission in the outskirts of Afghanistan while
working in RAW and chuckled.
“Are you ready
agent?” He asked me once again.
“Let’s kick some
asses” I said him with a gentle smile and a wink to the commander. The
commander nodded his head and said “Roger that”
“Then it’s time
for you to get suited up” Agent AC E said.
